Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles Gets a New Name After Dev Rage Posts on X

After recently releasing a brand-new free update to Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles, solo developer Tomas Sala faced unique challenges. After a surge of reviews and misconceptions about the title, the developer felt the need to clarify the struggles that Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles was facing—despite its looks, it isn't a strategy title.

The community-based tags for the title included a slew of problematic ones, including "Strategy", "4X", and "Combat" — Tomas Sala clarified that those were all user-suggested, and he had no control over how people perceived his game. To remedy this, he has changed the entire Steam page (and the name of the game) to better reflect the gameplay elements that he wanted to encompass: Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles, a creative building sandbox.

This comes after an angry post on his X account to prevent players from misunderstanding his game's goal, stating:

Bulwark is a chill builder that just looks like it would be a cool deep strategy game, but it's not. I just don't like cozy fucking designs, but this is basically a chill sandbox

The post is accompanied by a name change and extra description sections on the Steam page, which now clearly states:

This is not a goal driven game you can win, this is about designing your fortress and seeing how it responds to the environment. Bulwark has a minimalist interface and little hand holding. If you play this to design you will enjoy it, if you play it to win you will miss out on most it has to offer.

This is a CREATIVE SANDBOX not a strategy game. The light strategy elements are there to enrich the design process, not a a core mechanic.

This is an entirely new addition that more clearly states the whole purpose of the game.
