How to Get the Lightning Stone in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix

How to Get the Lightning Stone in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix

  • Where can you get it? Deep Jungle
  • When should you farm it? Whenever

The Lightning Stone is the easiest stone to farm of all in the game... or the most frustrating. Here's why.

Spawning in the Bamboo Thicket, the Black Ballade is a playful little Heartless that creates a slew of copies of itself, and you'll be playing a bit of a game with it — the Shell Game. If that doesn't sound familiar, that's fine; you'll likely know it more as the Shuffle Cup game.

The Black Ballade, after you get close to it, will duplicate itself into five different versions of itself, and it will start shuffling around rapidly. You can tell which is the real one because it bounces at the start, right before it shuffles, and then from there, you'd better hope you kept good track of it. Hit one of the clones, and the real Black Ballade will shock you with a bolt; fail too many times, and it will outright quit on you.

The problem is that each round gets faster, and you only have a guaranteed stone drop after you succeed four times in a row... or a measly 10% chance per successful round. It's impervious to pretty much any trick you might think: you can't Stop it, you can't keep it targeted, and you can target every one of its clones...

...Except pausing excessively. If you're struggling to keep up with which Black Ballade is the real one, one of the most sure-fire ways to keep track of it is to pause, and then pause again, and pause again, keeping a close eye on which one is the right one. It's, truth be told, the easiest way to actually succeed in this challenge; though you can do it "fairly" (I did once), you'll likely have more failures than you have successes.
